We are recruiting for a Nuclear Safety Specialist/ Engineer to provide support in the development of the project hazard logs, hazard schedules, Basis for Safety, Safety Cases and associated deliverables. The role: 
  • ·       To contribute health and safety aspects of all projects within Front End Development
  • ·       Develop assurance requirements for early phases of potential projects
  • ·       Produce safety documentation (HAZIDS, Safety Justifications reports etc), in line with the project requirements of time, cost and quality
  • ·       Advise the Assurance Lead on the safety implications of proposals for new facilities and the upgrading / renewal of existing facilities
  • ·       To develop and maintain the Basis for Safety and supporting safety assessments for non nuclear projects
  • ·       To develop and maintain Staged Safety Cases for nuclear projects
  • ·       Present the results of reviews to committees and facility managers
 Experience: 
  • ·       Good understanding of the requirements of a modern standards safety case, including hazard identification and fault analysis techniques
  • ·       Good understanding of safety case processes include approval
  • ·       Good understanding of the project lifecycle and the relationship with staged safety case reports
  • ·       Understanding of assurance management arrangements (policies and standards), legal requirements and the NII Licence Conditions

Required criteria: Good knowledge of UK environmental legislation, standards and guidance ,good knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and the requirements of ISO 14001, proven understanding of environmental optioneering techniques and requirements i.e. BPEO, BAT, BPM, relevant knowledge of Environmental Risk Assessment, knowledge of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions & Nuclear and Radiological safety cases would be advantageous.

 

Experience:Relevant experience in conducting/participating in environmental options studies, relevant experience in project development / management, relevant experience in authoring/peer reviewing environmental technical reports, strong previous experience in problem solving, influencing and negotiating with others at all levels
